Artwork born in fire

The original gold-plated brass applications are manufactured in a very special way. A very distinctive part of our furniture, they are designed especially for the Wave collection. The brass applications are manufactured from scratch, entering the life as molten liquid metal at 1000°C.

Initially, the brass ingots are bought by a master craftsmen specialised in smelting of brass. The material is then taken to a foundry in Bratislava. The material is then melted at 1000°C and die casted into a already preheated die made of sand. The process has to be monitored closely to prevent any bubbles from forming. After 4 hours of smelting, another 24 hours is reserved for cooling. Then the form can be taken apart to check the results of the die casting process.

Several hours are spent then with the Level 1 grinding, putting away all the excessive brass and channels, made to ease the flow of the molten metal. After many hours of checking, sorting out material fatigues and imperfections, only the best die casts are processed in Level 2 grinding, that is done entirely by hand.

Several hours are spent with grinding and polishing. After work, your fingers really hurt. Then, another 5 hours per piece of mechanical polishing after which we get a beautiful, glossy and luxurious item. We are almost done, but before the product is delivered to you, it has to be gold plated.
